Get the most out of your stream with SimulStream!

Osprey SimulStream is the first premium software upgrade available extending the capabilities of Osprey Video capture cards. SimulStream enables a single Osprey Video card to output multiple instances of audio and video data from a single input source to multiple applications.

Streaming and Scalability

Streaming media production today faces potential scalability concerns.
Reaching the broadest audience of media consumers with an optimized
experience requires increased production time, hardware requirements,
and general bandwidth.

Option 1:
Illustrates the optimized streaming scenario based on this fact. In this illustration, the source is being encoded in multiple formats and delivered at various target bitrates. Typical encodes like Figure 1 represent 2-3 content types: Real, Windows Media and QuickTime. This is done while also recognizing the diversity in connectivity speeds by delivering multiple data rates, generally 2-5.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:
Optimized Streams for maximum client experience Additional format support requires duplication of above environment
Addresses multiple audiences by providing various bitrates Increased physical space consumption limits scalability
Increased production time to generate multiple files
  Increased equipment costs

Option 2:
To alleviate the scalability concerns introduced in Option 1, significant technological advancements were introduced from streaming leaders Microsoft and RealNetworks. These advancements, Multiple Bit Rate (MBR) and SureStream, respectively, provide multiple data rate streams within a single delivered stream. The streaming server then maintains which included bitrate stream is most appropriate for a given view based on connectivity speeds.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:
Minimal streaming hardware investment for encoding Non-optimized streams for audience profile
All streams are QCIF!
Addresses multiple audiences by providing various bitrates Great dependency on client server negotiation for delivery of most applicable bitrate
-- Increased CPU load
-- Provides only one format

The Optimized Solution...SimulStream!

SimulStream is designed to provide the optimized experience of Option 1 with the streamlined workflow in Option 2.

The SimulStream Solution provides the best of both with multiple formats to multiple audiences with minimal hardware and CPU impact.

Plus the scalability of Option 2 that allows for multiple formats and individual stream optimization.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:
Optimized streams for a diverse internet audience in realtime NONE!
Maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality --
Complete utilization of latest processor speeds --
Maximum solution density for streaming production --
Reduced hardware costs --
